RESIN & FILLERS
FOAMING EPOXY SYSTEMS
With over 30 years experience of formulating and processing epoxy foams for industrial, marine and aerospace applications, Sicomin has developed a renowned range of multiple density foaming systems that, when combined with one of Sicomin large choice of hardeners, creates versatile core material and a high strength bond between two laminate skins made of epoxy, polyester or vinylester resins.
These systems have a very low expansion pressure and are applicable in various fields such as hollow body reinforcements, energy absorption, shock, vibration, dielectric and thermal insulation.

Standard epoxy foaming 170 to 600 Kg/m³.
More Info
Characteristics
- Closed cell foam production epoxy systems from 170 to 600 kg / m³.
- The PB 170 / DM 0x, PB 250 / DM 0x, PB 400 / DM 0x & PB 600 / DM 0x systems are two part epoxy formulations which produce closed cell low density foams
- The densities obtained are respectively about 170, 250, 400 and 600 kg / m³ (open mould expansion)
- The resulting foam is white but can be coloured with epoxy compatible pigments
- The hardener modifies the curing time and reachable thickness
- The mix evolves in two steps: rapid expansion and a slow hardening of the foam
Performance Benefits
- Results in a low density foam
- No need for fillers such as microballoons
- Adheres to a wide selection of materials
- Can be poured onto and co-cured with prepregs or other epoxy laminates
- Uniform density
- Excellent resistance to water
- CFC Free
Applications
- Production of epoxy foam
- Core material which can be produced “in-situ”
- Buoyant and adds density to honeycombs in local areas
- Thermal insulation
- Suitable for making foam blocks to be machined, sculpted or modelled

- The mix evolves in two step; rapid expansion and a slow hardening of the foam
- Simple 1 to 1 volume ratio
- Produces resilient foams with better flexural elongation without requiring any post curing cycles.
Performance Benefits
- Results in a low density foam
- No need for fillers such as microballoons
- Can bond to a variety of materials including wet surfaces
- Uniform density
- Excellent resistance to water
- CFC Free
